 I recently got a question from a reader and beginning Camgirl that wanted me to get to some of the fundamental topics of being a profitable webcam model. The video quality and sound seem to do really well on Microsoft's attempt at entering the webcam world. In a recent, unofficial poll I conducted with some of my girlfriends that also do webcam modeling, several of them enjoyed using this surveillance-looking webcam because of its high-quality video feed and clear sound. Of course, this webcam works seamlessly with instant-messengers and Skype, which is great for the independent  Camgirls and anyone that simply want to have a better chat with their mum or Bff! The software can be challenging, but overall, I give this an A- grade for this particular webcam. For roughly $50 or so, you can get one of Bill Gate's latest contributions to the tech world. Logitech WEBCAM C910 FULL HD 1080P




I think I will always be pretty partial to Logitech, mainly because developing webcams is their MAIN business, which makes me a bit more confident in their technological claims. I must say, this is my happiest purchase (roughly $70-$75 online) and I use this specific webcam on a regular basis with work and even personal use for overseas conversations via Skype. The picture is very nice, crisp and clear and the sound is solid as well. This model seems to be pretty quick and "smooth" at re-focusing when I get blurry during late-night sessions, etc. so consider that a plus, too! It seems like I have issues using HD, but I rarely us high-definition since it almost seems redundant if you have a good webcam. For the price, I have to rate my personal webcam an "A". It definitely does the job.

Logitech 720p Webcam C905





This is another great Logitech webcam with impeccable video quality and good sound. I cannot say enough about SOUND when you are doing a private webcam session with a gentleman! It is so pivotal to be able to hear what the fellow is saying so that a smooth conversation is enjoyed. This sleek, webcam at around $75 definitely does the audio portion of a webcam session pretty well. I wish the cord of this webcam would be a bit longer and securing this webcam on top of your computer can be difficult, but where there is a Will, there is a way. If you already have this webcam, go ahead and make it work to your needs. Just pay close attention to the video quality and audio more than anything. I don't care what the webcam LOOKS like as long as the streaming quality is crisp and high-quality. Overall, I rate this webcam as a B+ unless you have a laptop (for the shorter cord) and then I rate it as an A-.


Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF USB Webcam

Yes, I have a total of THREE of the top 4 webcams as Logitech, but I have used this brand the most out of any other webcam, and so have my friends in the camming world, and much of my tech advice is solicited from them. And they all seem to get a long well with Logitech webcams. Now, if you have been a Camgirl for a while and you are looking to make an upgrade purchase, the "Orbit" is the "Mercedes of webcams" at a price-tag of just under $100. However, the image quality and some of the cooler things you can do on this webcam (advanced features, etc.) are pretty cool. Like most Logitech's out there, it easily transitions into Skype calls BUT it cannot "clip" to your computer screen and must be placed on a flat-surface for optimal performance. I also have to rate this particular webcam as an "A".

In most cases, if you have compatible equipment (i.e. the right computer for your webcam-which is mostly all new computers) then you shouldn't have too many issues. However, the high-quality streaming video and audio quality can "make or break" some phone calls with impatient clients. My rule of thumb is, the more you charge per minute, the more likely it's a decent idea to "splurge" for the extra features that might add a little something "extra" to the late-night sessions.

Camgirl advice is back for good! Yay!

 As soon as the plane touched down TODAY I was itching to write again on my blog. I was out of the country for miscellaneous business and the internet I had access was the crummiest dial-up access. BOO! I'm also back to camming and I absolutely love it! Doing a "normal" job is just that: normal! So boring, but I learned a lot of things that I will be able to bring to the Camgirl Advice and Tips blog.

While I was away for the last few months, I had this ONE major question in my head. It bugged me to no end, and so in my spare time I spent time talking with experts via Skype and email and doing a lot of reading to find my answer. I wanted to know more about the Entrepreneur spirit that the really successful Camgirls had in order to make MORE money instead of always being online or in front of a camcorder. Of course, both aforementioned activities can be sexy and AWESOME but I wanted all the girls that read my blog to make more money during the day, with comparatively less work.

I think I have learned what I need to know and will be divulging these details in the very next blog post and all future posts. Yes, I will still address the psychology of a Sextress in the camming industry and how to mind-fuck silly boys for the most money, while being as subtle about it as possible. And yes, I am going to do more "Tech" articles that many girls should be aware of, something which I did not emphasize very much at first. This was largely due to the fact that if your "mind is right, then your pay is right".

Noxzema for a blemish-free booty

Last year, as I'm strolling the AVN and enjoying the festivities that Vegas has to offer, I chat it up with a starlette that claimed her flawless booty was in large-part due to her daily butt-lathering of a healthy dose of Noxzema. How Streamate.com could be the best webcam site...EVER

Yes, even though I've slacked at checking my twitter account (@CamgirlAdvice) lately, I have enjoyed a few email exchanges from girls with really great tips or fresh perspectives on being an adult webcam starlette in this increasingly competitive industry.

One email communique that particularly caught my eye regarded how Streamate.com, which happens to be my favorite webcam site (full disclosure: I don't even have ads on my site at this time; this is just fact in my experience), was now offering "geo-blocking" where basically, you can block countries or states...or even cities. Sweet! Let's take a closer look, shall we?!

Privacy has its perks
Granted, I personally, have no issues with showing my face or identity (aside from my writing identity being linked to my day job-LOL!) while being on webcam, some girls do, and for good reason. As "open" of a country the United States has seemingly become, there's still the potential social ostracizing that can be expected if a pretty girl is "discovered" in a conservative, or small town. You are not having sex with anybody, but stripping in front of a webcam is still a pretty big taboo for most people. It's really up to you and your comfort level.

And oh yeah, there's that little thing that people don't seem to treasure nowadays, which is privacy. Some people DON'T really want too much attention. Guys giving you compliments while you take home $2-$3 a minute is usually enough, trust me, for even the biggest ego (I shant name, names). And some people just don't want the drama involved because some people are sick and mentally-ill, and stalking does occur sometimes. Yes, your earnings will take a hit if you "block" a resident state, but is the sacrificed peace-of-mind worth an extra $20 a night? Let's take a mathematical peak girls...

If you are making $200-$300 a night, then 10% and 7.5% respectively, is a pretty low percentage of reduced income in my little hypothetical equation here, but you get the point. A sane and peaceful mind and body will help you make more money, over a longer period of time.

And guess what, you shouldn't be enjoying the perks of being a webcam model, making in excess of $50 an hour, only to be so stressed out that you gain/lose large amounts of weight or are constantly cleaning hair out of your sink or brush because your body is physically reacting to the scrutiny that a discovered model may unearth.

Don't lose your butt/beautiful hair. Just up your game and make a list of items that could improve your "private show" with the guys. Plus, money is NOT everything and greed is a disease we should all avoid. Seriously, we only have this one life and the sole pursuit of money and all things materialistic is laughable, when we ultimately can't take any of our possessions when you die (a trollie made me realize this-hilarious!).

But I digress
Back to Streamate being able to "block" certain areas of the country and the globe... The model I'm talking to is SO excited that SM is now blocking (a lot like Adultwork.com, Myfreecams.com, Homecams.com, etc.) but only to find out that the Streamate's geo-blocking implementation was having some "bugs" to say the least.

Essentially, some of the "tech staff" @Streamate were giving the girls the run-around, when scores of other virtual hotties were having the same blocking issues. Bottom-line, blocking is not working on Streamate just yet. And yes, I will absolutely make a post when it is completely functional and I get the "all clear" from the rest of my webcam peers that blocking is indeed, working.

I will make a bold statement here: if Streamate is able to successfully block regions/states/cities/countries yada-yada-yada, then it could quite possibly be the best overall adult webcam site in the universe.

But until then, at the current posting date of this latest blog, the "blocking" is only working SOME of the time for the majority of girls, and it seems like it is disabled once girls are getting online. That definitely sounds like a "bug" and I'm not even technical.

BOO!!!

Eventually, I'm sure the professionals at SM will get their shizzle together and evolve like the rest of the webcam world and ensure successful geographic-blocking so that even more money can be had by the eager girls that are all turning-out nice profits, night-after-night.

I live for empowering women in this arena, simply because it can be very competitive, lined with soiled individuals that only want to SOIL you as well. It's my small attempt at contributing something of value to the single moms or struggling college students out there that would be facing foreclosure or just a high-school degree if it weren't for Al Gore's invention called the internet (I may have used this joke before-Ha!).

Desperate Housewives make money at home with a webcam

While I was laying in the hospital, I happened to come across an episode of Desperate Housewives which depicted an older woman doing some naughty things on a webcam. I shrank a little in my bed as I saw it.

As soon as I saw it, I thought-WOW! Webcam sites like Streamate or MFC are going to get a TON of new traffic AND they will get a lot more older women (younger, too) trying to make a few thousand extra per month. Do you see the bittersweet situation that being an adult webcam model is now offering? ARG!!!!

The existing base of professional Camgirls has to fight that much harder to make a $300 night a consistent thing. And yes, $300 a night (4 hours) is not terribly difficult as long as you charge a decent price per minute AND the website has plenty of traffic going there. I cannot stress traffic enough. And yes, you can check Alexa.com to "SEE" the traffic going to a site, but bottom-line, if the traffic is a miscellaneous hodge-podge of jobless non-spenders then this information is basically worthless.

Trust me, I have reviewed A TON of webcam sites that looked good "on paper" but when the true character of the website and business is tested is when you see if you can make some REAL money. Most webcam sites will NOT make you money. At least not yet.

There has been a huge glut of webcam sites popping up in response to the demand for "live porno" essentially, which will really lag in traffic at first. Eventually, as more and more guys get addicted to directing their own porno movie, there will be enough soon-to-be empty debit cards floating around, which is great news for the girls working hard.

Prediction: as more and more guys get their "rocks off" to an interactive model that actually responds to your words and desires, there will be much less money spent on pornography in its traditional form.

The ugly, unfortunate, money-sucking truth of it all is that porno tube sites (I won't add a URL for those bastards) are offering up FREE porn to the masses-all virus free (mostly).

But here's the catch though, while most guys are watching their free porn, they will have a pop-up window showing a camgirl (usually on Streamate) trying to entice a private. The more FREE porn is watched, the MORE likely guys will eventually pay for a "private session".

Moral of the story is that being a webcam entertainer will get tougher in the short-term, but will be such a common fixture in the porno culture, that enough money will be had by all.

But...and this is a big butt (LOL!)...this means the collective masses of current webcam models will need to be that much better at their job.

In closing, I will say it again, as I always do: if you are reading this article, chances are, you are hot enough to be a webcam model (guy or girl) AS LONG AS YOU HAVE PERSONALITY!!! It's just the way it is.

Guys not only want to bust an orgasm, but they want to feel special and even manly (in most cases). Bottom-line, in this hyper-fast existence that we now live-in there seems to be a serious yearning for human connectedness even as the population expands at a galloping pace. I have been away for a while...

Without sounding like I want too much attention, I have been completely off the internet for the last few months, as I was "clipped" by a trollie in San Fran visiting my cousin. Um, getting "clipped" sounds innocent enough until it puts you in the hospital (ICU for 3 days). I feel sheepish about the accident but the entire time I was getting better, I wanted to get back to sharing good information with the fellow camgirl. How foreign girls make money like American girls

As an American Camgirl I have an advantage, as do all my American Camgirl peers, and the advantage is that I speak perfect English and I know the subtle nuances of American culture (in short, I read American magazines, books and watch American TV-unless you count Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which is a super-hot film). Basically, I'm easy to talk to since MOST of my customers, as well as many other Camgirls I know, are American boys. However, if you have some exposure to English then you'll probably do fine like girls in Brazil or Colombia or even Mexico. Canadian girls are essentially American, but with a bit more chic, European culture and a little less tan. They totally rock and their paychecks keep them performing week after week.

Yup. American boys are not necessarily the horniest lads of the land but on average, they have the deepest pockets. And this is the name of the game. After all, nobody REALLY wants to shake their tail-feather for 6 hours straight if you are only making $1.99 a minute! I'll cease my blabbering.

My point is, if you want to make the most money per hour camming then you need to adjust and adapt to a culture that will LIKELY be your biggest set of clients. And these clients speak English and are generally American boys that watch The Simpsons, phart a lot, love watered-down domestic beer, and want to see a big bootie get spanked. In a nutshell, they're brats with money. And for the most part, they are tolerable brats so the excess of $100/hour makes it reasonable to get a bit kinky.

However, as I've mentioned before, you still need to run your chat room how YOU want it, while maintaining that fine balance of alluring the clients into handing over their wallets and credit cards. Camming is so much more mental than physical, when you really notice what the very successful girls do. They are more than just a pretty face.

Charge more per minute as a Camgirl-because you're worth it!

In the human experience, we are constantly adapting and changing and ultimately, bitching about any change that may arise. My nails cost more now and I tried to learn Vietnamese to tell them how upset I was but alas, I accepted the increased price (change). And this automatic resistance to change is the biggest reason why more webcam models don't charge MORE per minute when they are literally baring it all.

Why? Because when a totally awesome Camgirl ups her prices from $3.99 to let's say, $4.59 and SOME (not all) of her "regulars" will complain, and bitch and moan about how the prices ARE TOO HIGH.

BULLSHIT. At the end of the day, most "live models" are getting incredibly freaky and kinky at the request of another male voyeur (or several-which increases profits of course). Essentially, these gentleman are DIRECTING THEIR OWN PORN and they are going to whine about a $0.60 increase per minute? Boo-hoo. Let 'em all cry it out ladies.

You are worth every single cent (or Euro, Pound, Yen, Peso, etc.) and as a driven Camgirl you should be SLOWLY increasing your prices. You are "boiling the frog" as they say in the South. What this saying means is, you can't just simply throw a frog into a pot of boiling water. No, not at all.

You have to START with a nice lukewarm water; something inviting for the gentleman to come join you in (maybe, $2.89 per minute your first week). As you start to get a following and some high-quality regulars that absolutely LOVE your cam sessions you should totally increase your prices by at least 12 cents per week. You are turning up the heat, little-by-little, on these little froggies ;)

Now, I know this sounds like an arbitrary number but I have tried several different "price strategies" over the last 7+ years of me camming and for some reason, 12 cents is just low enough (but high enough) to net some seriously nice profits. After 25 weeks (approximately 6-months that equals a $3.00  increase-um, yes please!) And since most girls should start at around $2-3 a minute, in 6-months of hustling on Streamate or MyFreeCams you can feasibly be making $5-$6 per minute. Personally, I think every single XXX webcam model should make at leat $6-$10 a minute. You can accomplish this by smaller price increases so the "crowd" really doesn't notice the increase enough to be shy with their wallets. Make more money and continue get that consistent paycheck, growing larger as it may be. By smaller, less noticeable bumps in your Camgirl rates you can do this. Easily.

And when you think about it, as gas prices are the HIGHEST IN HISTORY AT THIS TIME OF YEAR in the United States, nobody is really complaining too much in the media about gas prices. Why? Because "oil and gas" has also "boiled the frog" in an effort to make more profits. By small bumps in prices, over the long-haul. (Gas prices are projected to be $4-$5/gallon by summer btw's! Yikes!)

The more Camgirls that adopt higher prices, slowly but surely, will drive up the AVERAGE PRICE that every single webcam model enjoys. This means American girls, Brazilian, Russian-every single model should make more by this global effort to charge more per minute, every week.

Using Google Alerts to make more Camgirl profits

The majority of my posts on the Camgirl tips and advice blog are mainly to do with the mental side of taking your clothes off for strangers, albeit for a lot of money, it's still a psychological roller-coaster sometimes and I have been lacking a bit on the technical side of camming. The reason why, is that most people are successful because they simply have the "mental toughness" to not shy away from challenges, or rude, money-deficient, grumpy boys to make that money. With this all said, we live in a technological world and it's time for more articles on the tech side of being a naught webcam model. Here is something that I use a lot to my benefit for free. Let me explain: whenever you type in some search data like "Big booty blonde's" or something specific (because it applies to you, hypothetically) into Google Alerts you will get an update EVERY TIME anything on the net is published with the text of "Big booty blonde's" for example.

Why is this a big deal? Well, there seems to be A LOT of heartache over webcam sessions being stolen and put-up on a "Tube site" so some jobless goober can whack his hog. Boo that. So...if you enter your camgirl name like, "Lisa X" into the aforementioned Google Alerts then every time something NEW on the net with this text criteria (which applies to images and videos nowadays according to my SEO camgirl vixens) shows up, then I get an email (so convenient) with the link and textual information. I can then take action to take down illegal material. Or just simply defend my pretty little reputation! :) But I digress...

It is Christmas (and Hanukkah) time and it's a lovely time of year but there is one minor problem: the gifts.

Here's how to do it

1) Make sure you give MFC enough time to get an adequate following of "regulars" that frequent your chat room. Granted, you could make $120 in your first 3-hour shift. Or you could make $40. But generally, most girls that have watched a few shows of the better Camgirls on there do very well when they transition to a live chat site like this. MFC gets TONS of traffic so I would not worry too much about whether or not you have any tippers. It's all up to YOU on how you shake those bills out of their wallets;)

Generally, I would hustle hard your first week and let the regulars get to know you better and then after a week start bustin' out the games to keep chat sessions fun, entertaining and sexy. Yes, most girls have the sexy part down with no problems! But MOST of the Camgirls I see are lacking with personality. 3) In the rooms at MFC, the competition happens at hyper speed and therefore it makes the chat-sessions ADDICTIVE to the members that are tipping you. Go ahead and watch a few hours worth of free shows at MFC and you'll notice that guys will even say hello to eachother because there are so many regulars that are on the site every single day that they have gotten to know one another. At a site like MFC, it is a world that is hidden from the depressing, stressful, boring and lame life that most guys lead on a regular basis. How to turn every guy into a "Regular" client Part II

It's absolutely crazy to think that some Camgirls are struggling during live cam shows when they are absolutely HOT! And yet, they simply think that's all they need to get paid...and they will get paid and do very well but sprinkle on a bit of personality, read this camgirl blog and pay attention to the details and $85k-$100k is totally feasible. 4) Don't give away too much for free. Facebook, blogs, Twitter, forums, commenting on blogs are all ways to get your product, goods or services out there to be purchased. A little bit of time and effort mixed with a bit of kinky creativity and some fun will yield paying clients without having to pay a dime for advertising. And the coolest thing I have noticed about social media is that it almost creates an addiction by some regulars that just can't get enough. It's not just sex people! It's the whole enchilada.
